Hardcover. viii + 430 + liv + 208 pp. Volume for 1893 bound in 3/4 leather and cloth; raised bands with spine lettering, gilt, and bands ruled in gilt. Illustrated with countless engravings and 12 full-page photogravure plates. Supplement consists of the 128th Royal Academy Exhibition, illustrated with 194 pp. of full-page b/w plates plus additional textual illustrations in accompanying notes on the exhibition. Extremities slightly rubbed, with some spotting to leather and rubbing to cloth; leaf over front hinge partially split but firm; binding cracked but firm; some light foxing, especially on frontispiece, but volume otherwise very bright. Contains 2-part essay on design by Walter Crane, some head & tailpieces by Charles Ricketts, and poems by Swinburne, plus articles, reviews, and paintings by and about many of the Victorian greats, including an essay on art & industry by Alma-Tadema. Canadians will notice that Wade's statue of Sir John A. Macdonald was featured in the Royal Academy show and is illustrated on p. 195 of the supplement.
