Unpaginated poetry chapbook on Okawara paper with untrimmed edges. #256/320. Very faint corner-stain to a couple of prelims. The first of Schwerner’s magnum opus Tablets series, which purport to be scholarly translations of Sumero-Akkadian inscriptions, most pretty raffish, complete with parody scholarly apparatus. Schwerner (1927-1999) was an avant-garde Jewish-Americna poet born in Belgium. Although his work has since been collected, early editions like this one have long been unavailable.
