Map of Alexander’s conquests, with inset of Alexander’s empire, from “Atlas de Geographie Ancienne, du Moyen Age, et Moderne” (Paris, 1850). The map measures approx. 13″ x 18″ inches, including margins, and has a centrefold. Details are hand-coloured. Originally made by Delamarche in 1845, it was part of the compilation for the Atlas of 1850. Two very short edge-tears at foot of centrefold, mended with archivist’s (invisible) tape on verso, not affecting map. Delamarche was a famous 19th century French cartographer and naval engineer. Text in French.
