Hardcovers in complete djs. 469 pp. Fully illustrated with line drawn patterns throughout. V.1 dj slightly nicked on spine tips & corners, with a couple of very minor, very shallow chips to rear panel. Laid in is typed AND SIGNED LETTER BY THE AUTHOR, thanking a friend for a Christmas card. We presume the letter refers to the card, also laid in, printed by the United Church of Canada Mission Press, West China, which folds out in panels explaining United Church mission activities in China. The letter is dated 1953, but the card, whose lattice work is designed by Dye himself, evidently dates from a much earlier period because it credits him with being Professor of Physics at West China Union University, Chengtu. The card bears his annotations in ink.
