Brownish-grey checked linen with brown cloth title & spine title insets printed in gilt. 168 pp. 8 colour illustrations by Gagnon for this edition; frontispiece photoportrait of the author. Preface by Governor-General of Canada, Lord Tweedsmuir, aka John Buchan, author of The Thirty-Nine Steps. A deluxe edition, limited to 1000 copies (stated on front jacket flap), of Bake’s book originally published in 1915. Blake was also the translator of Maria Chapdelaine, also illustrated by Gagnon. A nice, tight, clean & bright copy in original dj. Dj internally mended with magic tape, rubbed & nicked on extremities, and slightly chipped at head and foot of spine; tear to spine edge (about 3 1/2″).
