Brussels (Antique Hand-Coloured Map, C.1850’s)

Original steel engraved map with outline hand colouring. From a series of 80 such maps Tallis produced during the early 1850s. Delicately engraved, all include vignettes depicting famous landmarks of the particular area involved. Those here include Palace Royale, Avenue in the Park, Brussels near the Porte d’Anderlecht, Hotel de Ville, Church of the Gudule. Folded double sheet 11″ x 14″ (27c x 37c) Decorative border. Slight discoloration along fold, small tear on bottom edge, otherwise a nice clean copy.
