Three-quarter black marocco and green cloth; raised bands; spine lettering gilt; spine fish vignettes gilt; top edge gilt; marbled endpapers. xxiii, 268 pp. Illustrated with 15 engraved plates, including 2 colourplates; 3 textual illustrations; colour frontispiece. Introduction by Sir Herbert Maxwell, editor of The Sportsman’s Library, under whose rubric this volume appears. Bookplate on front pastedown; leather rubbed, with spine sunned to brown; rubbing & minor buckling to cloth; light foxing to prelims & rear matter; light foxing (mostly marginal) to some plates; else a nice tight copy with Near Fine interior and, despite its defects, a still very impressive exterior.
