Beige cloth with bevelled edges; title lettering gilt; spine lettering gilt; top edge gilt. xi + 130 pp. plus plates hors du texte. Frontispiece and 3 additional photgravure plates + 74 half-tone plates. (List of illustrations calls for two Studies of a Child but only one was ever included). Small tear at head of spine expertly reclosed; hinges partially reinforced; light bubbling to rear board cloth, and virtually imperceptible scratch to both front & rear; slight shelf-wear, & rubbing to corners; cloth a trifle dusty, with light dust residue on endpapers and faint foxing to prelims. Despite defects, the majestic appearance of this volume remains relatively unaffected, being a tight bright copy with virtually fresh interior, rarely found in this condition. #385/390.
