Original steel engraved map with hand-coloured outlining. From a series of 80 such maps Tallis produced during the early 1850s. Delicately engraved, with decorative borders, all include vignettes depicting famous landmarks of the particular area involved. This one includes views of Coburg, Cologne, Dresden, the Luther’s House, Hartz Silver Mines, and “The Inventors of Printing” triple portrait vignette. Full sheet 11″ x 14″ (27 cm x 37 cm). Faint shadow at sheet fold, else a nice clean bright copy.
