n.d. (1890s). Approx. 370 pp. per volume. Three-quarter leather and marbled boards; marbled endpapers; raised bands; art nouveau spine decoration in gilt; spine lettering gilt; top edge gilt. With over 1200 colourplates and illustrations. Raised bands & extremities rubbed; decoration chipped at vol. 1 head of spine; some wear to tails, and leather leaves residue on the hands; but internally a nice, bright, tight copy else, with virtually fresh interior and some pages still unopened and especially sparkling colourplates. We don’t know whether the residue is just the dye coming off or whether the leather is deteriorating.
