Ink name (1871) on front free endpaper, title-page and upper margin of first page of text, all volumes; spines sunned and spine lettering faded; repaired tear to one spine; spine heads nicked with slight fraying to one; a couple of hinges started but firm; some foxing to plates and damp stains to some plate margins, not affecting illustrations; one fold (4 pages) detached, apparently misbound; but a nice tight set with otherwise clean, birght text and folding map in excellent condition.
