With numerous illustrations and a series of anatomical plates, engraved from original drawings from nature by Benjamin Herring; many in colour. Includes essay on diseases and management of cattle, sheep, and pigs by J. I. Lupton. Original owner’s ink name on fly-leaf (dated 1883); extremities rubbed with spine starting to detach at foot but still closed and firm; inner leaf split over rear hinge; some light foxing. ALL PLATES PRESENT, but two of derby winners (1881) do not match names given on list of plates, probably meaning that the plates originally intended for inclusion were scrapped in favour of more recent winners of 1882-1883 after the text was already printed. (Plates were typically added after printing.).
