Northern India (Antique Hand-Coloured Map, C.1850’s)

Original steel engraved map with outline hand colouring. From a series of 80 such maps Tallis produced during the early 1850s. Delicately engraved, all include vignettes depicting famous landmarks and inhabitants of the particular area involved. Those here include Seal of the East India Company, Car of Jugernaut, The British Residency, Hyderabad, Tiger Hunt, and Ruins of Old Delhi. Full sheet 11″ x 14″ (27c x 37c) Decorative border. Two small tears on bottom edge, “34” written in ink on upper left corner, otherwise a nice clean copy.
