Persia (Hand-Coloured Map C.1850’s)

Original steel engraved map with outline hand colouring. From a series of 80 such maps Tallis produced during the early 1850s. Delicately engraved, all include vignettes depicting famous landmarks or inhabitants of the particular area involved. Those here include Ispahan. Kurds, Pesian, and Bactrian Camel.. Full sheet 14″ x 11″ (37c x 27c). Decorative border. Tears, creases on bottom right hand side, chip on bottom right hand corner, “34” witten in ink on top left hand corner, otherwise a nice clean copy.
