Prussia (Antique Hand-Coloured Map, C.1850’s)

Original steel engraved map with outline hand colouring. From a series of 80 such maps Tallis produced during the early 1850s. Delicately engraved, all include vignettes depicting famous landmarks or inhabitants of the particular area involved. Those here include Frederick the Great, French Chuch, Berlin, Berlin Brandenburg Gate, The Royal Palace from the Bridge. Full sheet 11″ x 14″ (27c x 37c). Decorative border. Small chips on three corners and on right hand edge, “14” written in ink on upper right corner, otherwise a nice clean copy.
