Light ink name on title-page (of the era); spine slightly faded and some wear to spine tips; binding cracked; still a remarkably tight copy with clean interior. This edition gives Appleton’s street address, 549 & 551 Broadway, which makes us surmise that this is the original U.S. first edition from British sheets and format.
