Binding Type: WrapsEdition: 1st, Limited, NumberedCatalogue:

254 pp. Illustrated with over 40 engraved plates of the royals of the Stuart, Palatine and Hanoverian houses; frontispiece portrait of Sophia engraved in colour. Though the binding is a little fragile with some nicks to spine tips, this is a remarkably well-preserved paperbound volume from 100 years ago, with bright, clean wrappers and interior, showing only faint foxing to preliminaries and colophon page. Sophia was the daughter of the famous Winter King & Queen of Bohemia (Frederick V of the Palatinate and Princess Elizabeth Stuart of England) who were at the centre of the firestorm known as The Thirty Years’ War (1618-1648). Sophia subsequently married Ernst August of Hanover and their son, George, was invited to assume the throne of England in 1715, as George I and founder of the Hanoverian line. #128/1000.
