Hardcover. Large 8vo. Original blind-stamped decorative blue cloth with cover vignette gilt; spine lettering and spine vignette gilt. 4 vols. lxviii + 816 pp. (vols 1 & 2); 873 pp. (vols. 3 & 4). Prospectus bound into volume 1; extra title pages bound into rear of vol. 4. All maps and engravings bound into the front of each volume. Volume I: 6 coloured maps (1 folding), 4 engraved plates plus title-page vignette. Volume II: 11 coloured maps, 5 engraved plates. Volume III: 11 coloured maps, 5 engraved plates. Volume IV: 11 coloured maps, 4 engraved plates plus title-page vignette. Bookplate on front pastedowns; spine gilt slightly faded, extremities rubbed and spine tips nicked; a couple of bottom corners slightly worn, and some hinges started, but firm; faint moisture stain to vols. 2 & 3 rear endpapers; some wrinkling to pastedowns and slight fading to cloth on these two volumes only; minor foxing, but interior otherwise clean & bright. A nice, tight set overall.
