Mair’s narrative of the Athabaska and Peace River Treaty expedition (150 pp.) is followed by his friend MacFarlane’s Notes on the Mammals and Birds of Northern Canada, comprising the remainder fo the volume. Mair was the author of “Tecumseh: A Drama”, and English Secretary of the “Half-Breed Commission”, a government department to deal with the nation’s Metis.
