SCARCE. Special double issue of VERVE, December, 1952, with heliogravures produced by Draeger and colour lithographs by Mourlot, both master printers. The cover was specially designed by Georges Braque. Issue includes texts by Alberto Giacometti, Albert Camus, Jean-Paul Sarte and Andre Masson, with full colour lithographs by Leger, Chagall, Miro, Braque, and a Mastisse portfolio; also numerous gorgeous colourplates tipped in, including section on Egyptian encaustic portraits from the Roman era. Boards very slightly bowed with light soiling to white background; fragile paper spine split along spine edges near head (about 5″) and missing 3 1/2″ piece at tail; corners rubbed, and leaf split over front hinge for about 2″; interior otherwise bright and clean with especially fresh colour reproductions.
